What is Acem Meditation?

Acem Meditation is a simple technique for mental and bodily relaxation.

Common effects include improved sleep, increased awareness, more energy, fewer symptoms of stress, as well as less fatigue and worry. Blood pressure may be reduced in hypertensive people. Over time, the technique may contribute to the modification of personality traits.

The technique is performed sitting in a chair with closed eyes, usually twice a day for 30 minutes each time, although it can be practised more sporadically. The meditator mentally repeats a meditation sound without effort. During meditation, no active attempt is made to eliminate thoughts, feelings or other spontaneous impulses. Although the subjective experience of Acem Meditation may vary from session to session, it usually feels good to meditate.

A neutral and non-religious psychology of meditation has been developed by psychologists and medical doctors within Acem.

Learning Acem Meditation

Acem Meditation is easy to practise, but must be learned from qualified instructors who provide a suitable meditation sound and guidance in how to manage the inner challenges of the meditation process. Courses in Acem Meditation are now available in most regions worldwide. Many countries have their own Acem centres and instructors. Acem Meditation may also be learned at international retreats, which are held every year in Scandinavia and other parts of the world. For those who wish to deepen their meditative practice, Acem can provide further guidance at courses and retreats in various countries.

Practising other kinds of meditation? Practitioners of a type of meditation that uses a sound or a mantra will probably find the transition to Acem Meditation easy.

Experienced meditators of all kinds who have turned to Acem Meditation have found that it enhances the long-term effects of meditating regularly.
